Spencer Shaffer is a four-time CEO and entrepreneur who provides valuable insights into private engineering services, energy, technology, SaaS, and software. He draws from 26 years of leadership and management experience to advise on business planning, strategy and execution, fundraising, financial management, change management, human capital management, culture building, M&A, executive coaching, and leadership and team development.

As the CEO of ETC Group of Companies, Spencer spent five years acquiring portfolio businesses, scaling them, and leading the M&A process. All three businesses were sold to a strategic buyer in 2022. He also dedicated his time to leadership development and mentoring, inspiring and guiding others to achieve their full potential. His role as a mentor and leader is a testament to his commitment to personal and professional growth. He orchestrated the integration of new initiatives, acquisitions, and technologies, resulting in enhanced operational efficiency and sustained growth. He collaborated cross-functionally to ensure clarity and alignment, drive strategic outcomes, and maximize ROI.
Professional Highlights:
- Deep expertise in operations, professional services, engineering services, SaaS, and software business models.
- Led and guided the restructuring efforts of a $600 million division to increase efficiency and profitability for large-scale engineering projects.
- Led all aspects of the M&A process, including deal negotiation, sell-side due diligence process, and business integration of ETC Group, BuildingFit, and GrowFit Analytics to Bernhard, the largest privately held Energy as a Service company in the U.S.
- As Founding Chairman & CEO, in 2010, established the Utah High School Mountain Biking League, which now has over 8,000 student-athletes and 500 coaches, making it the largest youth biking/cycling organization in the United States.

Spencer has led and served on many for-profit and nonprofit boards and has devoted time, talents, and resources to causes he is passionate about. He enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife of 29 years, Shauna Shaffer, and their three adult children. Spencer also speaks fluent Spanish and spent two years living in Argentina. He is an avid backcountry and alpine skier, mountain biker, golfer, cyclist, hiker, and fly fisherman. He resides in Salt Lake City, Utah.
