Brian Mergelas is an accomplished leader with over 25 years of experience in driving growth, innovation, and operational excellence for global technology companies and startups. Throughout his career, Brian has been involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions both on the buy and sell side. He has a strong background in operations, sales, marketing, research and development (R&D), financial management, and strategy.

- Founder of the Pressure Pipe Inspection Company: Brian founded and bootstrapped the Pressure Pipe Inspection Company from a one-person startup into a global leader in water infrastructure technology with over 100 employees, subsidiaries in the United States and Mexico, and operations in 10 countries. He successfully orchestrated an exit 13 years later with a 30%+ CAGR return to shareholders to Pure Technologies, which was later acquired by Xylem Technologies.
- CEO of Sunwell Technologies: Under his leadership, Sunwell transitioned from a research-focused organization to a commercially successful and profitable enterprise, achieving a 60% increase in revenue and delivering projects around the globe.
- Executive Vice President of Smith Cameron Group: Brian played an important role in the buildup and sale of the Smith Cameron Group to a KKR portfolio company in the U.S. Following the sale, he helped integrate multiple businesses across Canada into a single operating group.
Brian has served on both corporate and nonprofit boards, including the Children’s Aid Foundation, the Ontario Clean Water Agency, and Alectra Utilities’ Gre&T (Green Energy and Technology) Center. Additionally, as the CEO of WaterTAP (Ontario’s Water Technology Acceleration Project), Brian led initiatives that supported a diverse range of water technology companies, achieving impressive average revenue growth rates of over 20% for these organizations.
Brian earned his doctorate from Queen’s University, where he specialized in non-destructive evaluation of critical infrastructure. He is a Graduate of the Rotman Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and a Member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). He is also a member of the Technology Sub-Network in Machine Learning and AI, has completed several online courses on LLMs, and is actively working with businesses to unlock the power of LLMs to enhance business performance and profitability.
