Odmar Almeida-Filho is an expert at scaling up and turning businesses around successfully, in over 10 industries, across more than 30 countries, over nearly 4 decades.
Odmar has held President and Senior Executive roles at large companies like Procter and Gamble, Dell Computers, Telefonica, and Ipsos, as well as in smaller businesses, including two of his own – and has made big happen in every business he’s touched, ranging from $5Million in sales to $5 Billion in sales. Odmar’s specialty is setting clear winning strategies and turning those into specific measurable plans and activities that deliver impact.
He’s been a board member and advisor for privately held companies, as well as for large trade associations. His Board work includes: Elected Board member for ABEP (Brazil’s Market Research Association) 2010-2012; Elected Board member for ABEVD (Brazil’s Direct Selling Association) 2013-2017; Appointed Board Member for Zap Imóveis – Brazil’s leading online real estate database company (2008-10); Appointed Board Member for Telefónica Assist – Brazil’s leading telecom services and hardware provider (2004-06).
Odmar is a lecturer on Strategy, Marketing and Technology at universities in Brazil and the US, including Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Executive MBA (Brazil, 2007 to present); InsPer University’s Executive Education (São Paulo, 2012-13); ESPM University’s Undergraduate program (São Paulo, 2008-10); and USC’s Center for Technology Management (2006-08). He is a five-time winner of the “teacher of the year” awards.
He holds a degree in Computer Engineering from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Brazil), an MBA from the University of Southern California, and Executive Education certificates from IESE-Barcelona and Stanford GBS.
With wife Giselda (a mother and wine importer) they are devoted parents of three sons aged 13 to 23 and believe education is a foundation for tolerance and economic achievement. They are passionate supporters and donors of US college scholarship programs for underprivileged Brazilian students.
Odmar is also a half-competent Jazz musician, a food and wine enthusiast, and a passable, but very committed, cook for his family and friends.
