Chris is a seasoned executive with 20 years’ experience boosting performance at both established and distressed companies across different industries. He has repeatedly built world-class organizations, earning formal recognition for these transformations. Exceptional critical thinking skills, combined with a bias for action, are fundamental to his reputation as a problem solver, fixer, and doer – and have placed him repeatedly in demand by companies looking for aggressive growth solutions.
Before joining CEO Coaching International, Chris served as COO of a major AT&T authorized retail chain, with more than 500 stores nationwide. He also served concurrently as President of its California subsidiary. Chris joined the company in 2011, shortly after it acquired 30 distressed locations in Southern California. As President, Chris instituted aggressive changes, rapidly taking these stores to record sales and profits, and setting the stage for the doubling of the portfolio. Because of his efforts, the California stores were named AT&T’s #1 chain in the Western US in 2011 and 2012, marking a “worst to first” transformation. In his parent company role, Chris led campaigns that sharply boosted gross margins across all locations coast-to-coast, and built a corporate team that successfully integrated 300 new stores in less than 3 years. He continues to serve this company in a strategic advisory role.
He began his career 20 years ago with a leading manufacturer of infrastructure products for telecommunications and other utilities. Leading the company’s efforts to expand into Latin America’s growing telecoms market in the 1990s, Chris worked his way up from Director of International Operations to President. As President, he challenged the conventional wisdom, enabling the company to expand capacity and significantly reduce lead times – reviving the company’s reputation and inspiring customers, top distributors and salespeople to defect from competitors. The company secured millions in new contracts and boosted sales by 40%.
Chris has also worked directly with numerous business owners, helping them transform their businesses in the face of financial distress, adverse market conditions or deteriorating performance. One, a specialty manufacturer for large retail hospitality companies, was guided through the worst of the great recession by market diversification and the professionalization of its salesforce. Another, a large iconic Southern California moving and storage company, confronted an enterprise-threatening housing crash and historic spike in fuel costs, shortly after expanding into dozens of new branches across 9 states. Assuming the role of Interim President, Chris directed a sharp improvement in the call center’s conversion rate and captured new sources of revenue. The company was immediately stabilized and returned to a path of sustained growth and profitability.
Chris has been a highly engaged member of Young Presidents Organization since 2007, serving 2 years as Chairman of the Orange County Chapter. During his tenure as Chairman, YPO Orange County was recognized with the #1 Rating Worldwide – out of 400 chapters across the globe. He was also active at Regional and International Board Meetings, building a strong network of relationships among a variety of other YPO businesses.
